Presentation of the Calasanz Institute of the Right to Education (ICALDE) to the Congregation for Catholic Education

On Wednesday, March 20, the delegate of Father General for the ICALDE, Fr. Jean de Dieu Tagne, the Assistant of Father General for Asia, Fr. József Urbán and the Director of the ICALDE, Dr. Herrick Mouafo, were received at the Vatican City by His Excellency Mgr Zani, Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education of the Holy See, accompanied by Fr. Ciro Guida and Fr. Roberto Hernandez.

The aim of the meeting was to present the path travelled by ICALDE and to explore avenues of collaboration between ICALDE and the Congregation for Catholic education. After congratulating the ICALDE for the work accomplished, the Secretary of the Congregation pledged to concretize in the coming days certain specific aspects. These include:

• the search for professors for certain subjects belonging to ecclesiastical competence;

• the setting up of a framework for collaboration with the ecclesiastical universities of Rome, which deal with education, with a view to the recognition of diplomas;

• the insertion of the Observatory of the Right to Education in the great Observatory of Education that the Holy See is in the process of setting up at the global level.

This meeting marks an important point in the consolidation and implementation of the ICALDE project, for which Father General Pedro Aguado and the General Congregation of the Pious Schools attach great importance, given the impact that this training will have for the future of education for all.
